About the event
Mobilize Frederick’s Inaugural Annual Climate Summit, Co-sponsored by Hood College, will be held on Saturday, May 6th from 9 AM to 4 PM.
We are privileged to have Hood College President Andrea Chapdelaine opening the summit, and County Executive Jessica Fitzwater and Mayor Michael O’Connor as our keynote speakers.
The theme of this year’s summit is “Mobilizing All of Us” and will focus on the four organizing principles outlined in the Climate Response and Resilience Report:
- Conserve as much as possible
- Electrify everything
- Preserve and restore nature
- Build for the future
In addition, there will be two hot topics presented:
- What is a Green Bank and how can it help us?
- Green Schools in Frederick County
There will be opportunities throughout the day for attendees to ask questions and share information about climate impacts. To wrap up the day, we will have a panel discussion with community leaders.
An exhibit hall is also available for showcasing innovations and solutions by public- and private-sector organizations.
The conference will be held at Hood’s 400 seat Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall. Lunch and sponsor and nonprofit group displays will be in neighboring Whitaker Hall.
This event is open to all members of the public and there is no charge for admission, but registration is required. Lunches will be catered by Hood College and can be ordered when registering for the event.
