New Frontiers

The City Nature Challenge through community science strengthened partnerships, inspired new research and programming, and is shaping policy and practices. Together we are raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity for resilient ecosystems, agriculture, and community health. 

 

What's new and in the pipeline:

  • Frederick's Bee City and Bee County Initiative (underway in 2026)

  • Advocacy for statewide bill: May as Native Plant Month

  • Endangered Bumblebee Conservation and Research at Hood College (grant proposal)

  • ​Nature-based programming at Frederick County public libraries

  • ​Maryland Biodiversity Project in Frederick County (joining us for the 2026 Challenge)
