Community Forums and Cooking Demonstrations
Cooking Up Cleaner Air community forums and cooking demonstrations will inform attendees about the dangers of cooking with gas stoves and demonstrate examples of cooking with an induction cooktop. The cooking demonstrations feature a chef who will teach how to cook a dish using one of the induction cooktops that the program will provide for qualifying households. The chef will also share about the benefits of using induction over gas. After the demonstration, guests will enjoy the food prepared by the chef while learning about the health and environmental effects of cooking with a gas stove, and about the benefits of switching to induction. Guests will also learn about Cooking Up Cleaner Air’s community liaison program, and indoor air quality testing conducted by Mobilize Frederick.
Community Liaisons
Community liaisons will connect the Cooking Up Cleaner Air program with members of their communities. They will attend a train-the-trainer workshop, where they will learn more in-depth information about the issues with gas stoves, gain hands-on experience with induction cooktops and air quality sensors, and learn about community outreach strategies. Liaisons will work to teach others in their community about gas stoves and encourage them to get their home’s air quality tested by Mobilize Frederick. Community liaisons will be incentivized for attending the train-the-trainer workshop and for their outreach.
